Are you able to estimate your future cloud consumption to estimate your cloud costs?

No – At this stage, we have no real way to accurately predict future cloud costs.

No – We have not tightly defined a plan for moving workloads to the cloud.

How capable are you of designing high-level target infrastructure on your cloud platform?

We do not have cloud experience so will find it difficult architecting for the cloud as opposed to traditional on-prem data centre design.

We have some applications on the cloud but still lack deep knowledge of being able to leverage cloud architecture.

We are quite confident in the cloud and able to design cloud-native architectures but would welcome other experts to ratify our designs.

Do you understand how a cloud setup can affect your Microsoft and software licensing costs?

I am aware that we have to consider our Microsoft and software licensing but are unsure how our cloud setup affects this.

We understand that how we set up our cloud can have a significant impact on our licensing costs but do not have knowledge on how to navigate this.

We have a strong knowledge of how our cloud setup affects our software licensing costs.

Are you able to predict and improve application performance for the applications you move to the cloud?

We expect that the cloud will improve application performance but we won’t be sure until we migrate.

We are very sure application performance will improve but we can’t predict by how much and don’t have experience in tuning to improve the performance of cloud applications.

We are very clear on how to ensure we get maximum performance from our apps and have a very clear understanding of performance improvements we expect to see.

How much of a skills gap do you have when it comes to your total cloud knowledge?

We are on a learning curve and need to skill up a lot before we can move business-critical apps to the cloud.

We are confident in working with the cloud but need to improve some specialisation and advanced knowledge to ensure we maximise our cloud usage.

We have invested adequately to ensure we have full knowledge of cloud platforms and operations.
